Poly Aluminium Chloride (PAC) – Versatile Coagulant for Industrial & Municipal Applications
Poly Aluminium Chloride (PAC) is an inorganic polymer-based coagulant widely used for water treatment and industrial processes. Known for its superior coagulation efficiency compared to traditional coagulants like alum and ferric chloride, PAC helps in removing suspended solids, organic matter, and heavy metals from water.
PAC is manufactured by reacting high-purity aluminium hydroxide or bauxite with hydrochloric acid under controlled conditions, followed by polymerization. The result is a yellow to white powder or liquid, available in different grades depending on basicity and aluminium content.
Uses across industries:
- Municipal Water & Wastewater Treatment (10%-17% Al₂O₃): PAC is extensively used in drinking water purification and sewage treatment. The low iron content ensures clear, odor-free output without increasing water salinity.
- Paper Industry (17%-19% Al₂O₃, low basicity): PAC acts as a retention and drainage aid in paper manufacturing. It improves paper quality and helps in reducing chemical consumption.
- Textile & Dyeing (medium basicity PAC): It effectively removes color, turbidity, and COD in dye-house effluents, enabling reuse and meeting pollution control norms
- Oil & Gas Industry (high basicity, >30% Al₂O₃): Used in drilling fluids for reducing water loss and stabilizing clay formations. PAC also assists in oil-water separation processes.
- Cosmetics and Pharmaceuticals (white PAC, food/pharma grade): Used as an active ingredient in antiperspirants and as a flocculant in purification systems.
We import high-purity PAC from globally reputed manufacturers in China and other markets, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and consistent supply.
