Calcined Bauxite is a key raw material used in high-temperature and abrasive applications. It is produced by heating natural bauxite ore at 1600–1800°C in rotary kilns, which removes moisture and volatile components, thereby increasing its hardness, alumina content, bulk density, and thermal resistance..
At Ochnology Solution Pvt Ltd, we import multiple grades of calcined bauxite directly from China and supply them to industries across India. These grades are available in both lump and powdered forms, suitable for refractories, abrasives, cement, and surface treatment applications.

Chinese vs Indian Calcined Bauxite – Which Grade Suits Your Application?
| Parameter | Chinese Bauxite (Imported) | Indian Bauxite |
| Al₂O₃ Purity | 85–89% | 75–80% |
| SiO₂ Content | 5–10% | 15–19% |
| Fe₂O₃ | 1.8–2.0% | 2.5–3.2% |
| Bulk Density | 3.15–3.35 g/ccm | 2.8–2.9 g/ccm |
| Consistency | High (controlled furnacing) | Variable (based on mine grade) |
| Price | Slightly higher, but superior | Economical but lower performance |
| Use Case | High-grade refractories, export | Cement, surfacing, low-duty uses |
The choice between Chinese and Indian calcined bauxite depends entirely on the industry and specific application:
- Chinese calcined bauxite is preferred where high purity, low iron content, and superior thermal performance are critical. This includes high-grade refractories, precision abrasives, ceramic bonded applications, oilfield proppants, and export-focused products.
- Indian calcined bauxite is more economical and suitable for cost-sensitive applications such as anti-skid road surfacing, low-duty refractories, alumina cement manufacturing, and general filler usage where ultra-high alumina content is not mandatory.
In essence, for performance-critical applications, Chinese bauxite is ideal. For volume-driven or budget-conscious projects, Indian bauxite remains a practical alternative.
